A Little Sunshine On A Dreary Day

It's Thanksgiving week and, as it typically is this time of year here in Ohio, the weather is cold, damp, and yucky. I'm not complaining; just making an observation. I actually appreciate the colder weather. I like to stay home on these dreary days and find something creative to occupy my time.

Last week I started working on an old crochet design I never published. I'm not sure where the original prototype is hiding at the moment, but I did happen to come across the written pattern recently. After a little digging around in my stash I found the perfect colors to make a bright and happy project.

The pattern is for a simple 4-inch square. My original plan was to use the square as the basis of a small totebag and that is still the plan. I am currently working on the construction of the bag and hope to have the pattern finished and ready by next week.

So in the meantime, here's a sneak peek of my Little Sunshine Square to brighten your day.

Ten Years, a Coincidence, and a Testimony

WOW!

Ten years?? To the day no less!

There have been a lot of changes in my life situation since I fell away from the blogging and crochet designing arenas. I'll talk more about that in a future post. But I just want to say I've missed this! I've missed the community. I've missed the creativity. And I've mostly missed the friendships and comaraderie that I was a part of at one time.

I've thought so much about that part of my life recently that I was led to peruse the "old blog" yesterday afternoon to have a little peek to see how it was doing. Almost immediately my eye was drawn to the date of my last post; Nov 18, 2014.

Wow! TEN years!

Honestly, I've looked at the blog many times over these several years and thought about attempting a reboot, but it has never seemed to be a good time. Life, and all that... But it's life that's gotten me to where I am now. Not in a bad way. Things happen that are all part of God's providence and His will for our lives. Sometimes things that appear to be a major setback are actually placing us in a position to shine His light outward through us. I firmly believe this is where I stand at this moment in time.

Transitions are a time for growth and new adventures. Over the coming days, weeks, months I will be exploring new avenues of sharing my talents and wares. The blog is not going anywhere, although you may have already noticed some slight changes in its appearance. I do have some plans for expanding my commercial brand (Crochet Amore) and perhaps engaging in a new platform or two. More details on that as I work out the logistics.

The crafting world has drastically changed from what it once was. I have much to learn and far to go. If you are still with me, whether an old friend or a new colleague, I hope you'll join me on this journey.

I couldn't "not" post a crochet pic for you, so here is a little eye candy. It's an afghan I made for a close friend a couple of years ago. (Yes, she LOVES plants! LOL) The flower square is Bev's Soft Flower Square and the connecting rows are a basic granny ripple.

If you'd like to see more of what I've been doing with my hook and yarn check out my project page over on Ravelry. There's not a whole lot of new stuff there, no new patterns, but I've been a little more busy lately with making things for the classroom as you'll see.
