Heart Dishcloth

NOTE: Rows 31a and 31b should read "dec, *sc in fl of next st, sc in bl of next st, rep from * 2 times more, dec"
Both rows have been corrected. I'm sorry for any inconvenience! Thanks Oreo, for bringing it to my attention. :)

Finished size: Approximately 10 x 11 inches

Materials: (US) size G hook, 2 oz. Worsted Weight Cotton in desired color (Example was made using Peaches ‘n Cream’s Spring Meadows)

Ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook to form loop.
Row 1: 3 sc in loop, ch 1, turn. (Turning ch does NOT count as a sc now and throughout.)
Row 2: 2 sc in fl of first st, sc in bl of next st, 2 sc in fl of last st, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: 2 sc in fl of first st, sc in bl of next st, *sc in fl of next st, sc in bl of next st, rep from * to last st (there will be one st remaining to be worked), 2 sc in fl of last st, ch 1, turn.

Row 31a: dec, *sc in fl of next st, sc in bl of next st, rep from * 2 times more, dec, fasten off.

Row 27b: Picking up where you left off on row 20a, skip 1 sc, join yarn in fl of next sc, dec, *sc in fl of next st, sc in bl of next st, rep from * 7 times more, dec, ch 1, turn.

  3. Hi April,
I have started to crochet the heart shaped dishcloth and am loving how it is turning out so far. I just have one question, in rows 21-26 do you mean for all the stitches to be in the back loop or do they alternate like before?
    Thanks, Kate

  4. Hi Kate, yup... you alternate between the back and front loops throughout the whole thing... Now that I look at it, I see where i went wrong in writing this one up. It's one of the very first patterns I wrote. :) I'll get it corrected asap!

  5. I am stumped, I got to row 31a with no problems, but on this row, I run out of stitches, doing the sc fl, sc bl a total of 6 times before last dec. What I am left with from row 30a is enough stitches to do the starting dc, 3 total of the sc fl, sc bl, and last dec. on row 31a. Help!

  8. You're welcome, and thank you for the awesome compliment! I'm glad you like the pattern :)

This was one of the very first things I designed so it's not written as well as it should be.

  9. Just found your pattern and really like it. I am almost done, but it is not adding up. On row 27a you say there will be 21 sts remaining. I have 41 sts to work with if I do the 27a row that leaves me with 26 sts to be worked. which means I will have a major gap in the middle once the other side is worked. What am I missing?

  10. Stacey,
I went over the pattern and it seems correct to me. There should be a total of 41 stitches when you complete row 26. You will make a decrease at the beginning of 27a, then work across the next 16 stitches, then make another decrease. This should add up to 20 stitches leaving 21 unworked. The center stitch doesn't get worked, you will skip that one and join a new piece of yarn for 27b and work across the last 20 stitches of that row.

I hope that all made sense! Please let me know if you have any other questions. :)
